Recovering Language, Reconstituting Self

   
One woman dentist from Dublin confessed, when asked why she had come to the program, ‘‘It’s my forgotten culture that I don’t want to forget.’’ Another informant expressed most succinctly what many others intimated: ‘‘I came here to find my real past, my past self, myself.’
